GFA’s Exciting New Collaboration with The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
At Govern For America (GFA), we are thrilled to announce our collaboration with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Governor Shapiro to introduce the first-ever Govern For America Fellows to serve Pennsylvania.
This collaboration aligns with both GFA’s mission to build the next generation of public servants to create a more responsive government that better reflects and serves our communities and Governor Shapiro's Hire, Improve, Recruit, Empower (HIRE) executive order, which aims to build a stronger, more competitive state government workforce. By placing our fellows in key state agencies, we are contributing to a more representative government that truly serves the people of Pennsylvania.
A Vision for a Better Future
At GFA, we believe that young leaders bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to the challenges facing our government today. Our fellowship program is designed to develop these emerging leaders by providing them with real-world experience, rigorous training, and mentorship. By embedding our fellows in government roles, we are helping to create a vision for a better future—one where government is more inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs of all its citizens. Through GFA’s curriculum that focuses on nine leadership competencies, our Fellows become well-equipped to address the challenges faced by the Commonwealth and drive meaningful, impactful change.
We are excited about this collaboration because it represents a significant investment in the future of public service. By providing young leaders with opportunities to work in government, we are not only building a pipeline of talented public servants but also ensuring that our government is reflective of and responsive to the diverse communities it serves. Our fellows will start their journey this summer at the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Department of Environmental Protection, and Department of Health. They will bring their passion, energy, and innovative ideas to these agencies, helping to create a more effective and equitable government.
