About GFA’s AI x Talent Project

In the last few years, many state governments have introduced guidelines for the deployment of AI by state agencies. As states now move from policy into production and deployment of AI models, GFA wants to offer informed, comprehensive, and dynamic support to states through offerings that connect governments to emerging technology talent. As part of that effort, GFA is conducting a foundational research study with three main objectives:

• Assess the degree of preparedness within states to deploy AI, and detail the most successful deployments with real examples from lead states

• Profile demand from early-career talent to fill state technology roles, and identify challenges and opportunities associated with placing talent

• Develop a working model for how states can utilize Fellowships or other innovative staffing mechanisms to expand their internal AI capabilities

GFA will be conducting research with three distinct demographics in Fall 2024: State governments, university career advisors, and technology workforce efforts. All feedback shared will remain anonymous; insights will be presented in aggregate in the final study. GFA thanks all research participants in advance for their valuable input.
